Local charity Parentlink are celebrating

Local charity Parentlink are celebrating this month after Hampshire County Council agreed to hand over the Colors building in Holbury to them for a ‘peppercorn rent’.

The charity which has been operating in Holbury since 2010 works with young people aged 5-25 in a variety of different ways, including Youth Club for 12-19 year olds every Thursday which is held at Colors.

But the main provision of the group is to support young people with Aspergers, Autism, ADHD and other forms of challenging behaviour and provide support to the whole family.

Samantha Nash, who started Parentlink in Holbury, said, ‘This is fantastic for us we have been looking for somewhere to call our own and provide regular support to young people and their families, but it’s important for everyone to know that the building will also be hire-able to the local community for parties, band practice and other events’.

None of this would have been possible without the support of County Councilor Phillip Fawkes who brought everyone together to arrange for the hand over’.

Parentlink can provide respite for families and carers and is meeting with the National Fostering Agency shortly to set up direct support to Foster Carers in the Hampshire area.
